About

Dane Schumacher is from the Bay Area in California.  He grew up with a love for piano and guitar.  In high school he started the indie rock band Subtle Orange with a group of childhood friends.  As the writer, singer and guitarist of Subtle Orange, Dane has recorded 15+ songs and played 30+ shows including main stage at Bleached Festival 2023 in San Diego and sold out performances at The Echo & The Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles.

Upon moving to Los Angeles for college in 2017, Dane began to grow as a producer and solo creative.  “This era of my music is the product of being alone in the room and striving to create the same amount of magic I feel when playing with an entire band,” says Dane.

Dane grew up with influences like The Beatles, The Velvet Underground, Radiohead and The Gorillaz. His love for rock bleeds into all of the music he writes.  He is also drawn to modern artists such as Joji, Frank Ocean, Dominic Fike, Dijon and Yeek.  Like these artists, Dane likes to be super involved in the whole creative process.

Dane’s music, characterized by catchy melodies and nostalgic sounds, reveals a keen sensibility for pop. However, labeling his creations as “pop” would be an oversimplification, as his sound defies singular genre constraints.  Instead, Dane’s music can be best described as a genre in itself- an amalgamation of rock, rap, R&B and electronic elements.

Looking ahead, Dane is gearing up for an exciting year with numerous song releases and live performances planned across his home state of California. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
